Spring 2011: 'Mono-chromed' Looks

Miu Miu

Halston

Max Mara

Jil Sander

Prada

Costume National

Jenni Kayne

Proenza Schouler

A Spring trend I am definitely looking forward is mono-chromatic dressing!

From Miu Miu's electric red lady-like dress to Jenni Kayne's soft two-toned violet number... I absolutely love these looks. Leading designer Spring collections make this trend look pretty and easy

I especially like this trend because instead of going out and spending loads for these looks, you can save by shopping in your own closet. You can get this mono-chromatic look by layering different shades of the same hue.

Holiday Wishlist

Yay for Holiday wishlists!

Yes, I maybe channeling your grampa... but for this next year I am going to expand my fashion and create a 'new generation' with my style... Sort of my own personal way of mixing old and new.
(I confess... I also maybe channeling a bit of 'Mad Men'... new season please arrive sooner!! ha)

I absolutely loveeee these colors together! The crash of orange and burnt red warm up my holiday season and can be staple pieces for the rest of the year. Anyone that knows me.. knows I'm a sucker for fedoras... so this classic black felt fedora with a simple bow detail is a key piece for my wardrobe. Top off the look with layered jewelry and comfy men's inspired loafers and I'm set! OH and lets not forget the gorgeous tortoise Michael Kors watch.. I mean really?? That man's a genius!

1) Wool Back Bow Fedora (Forever 21)

Window Shopping: The Bergdorf Goodman Way

A-mazing!

A few weeks ago, I was lucky to see these beautiful windows up close in NYC with my parents. If it wasn't for my immense hunger for our dinner reservation, I could very possibly still be there in front of Bergdorf Goodmans! I love how they made me feel as if I was personally invited to step right into their novel and dream. The amount of detail and talent the crew puts into each window is nothing less than remarkable. Its no wonder why hundreds of people come from all over to catch a glimpse of them!

I hope these photos take you on a fairy-tale journey... as they did for me.

Take a look at this behind-the-scenes video! :)

NERDS UNITE!

I absolutely love this trend! It definitely makes us all think twice about throwing out those old 'Star Wars' shirts... I first wanted to do a 'Galaxy' themed blog when I saw actress Carey Mulligan in a galaxy dress by Christopher Kane.

Alongside Mr. Kane, Jeremy Laing is another designer that has brought this look down to Earth. Celebrities, like January Jones, have even accepted this cosmic style with open arms.

But most of all, I think we all have to thank Lady Gaga for her outrageous galactic fashions. If it weren't for her unique style, we wouldn't have reached quite so high for these stars...
